Tom came to Comfort Homes and Care after experiencing bereavement. This Trauma caused him to decline in mental health and abuse substances. Tom became immobile due to substance misuse and medical conditions. Over the last 2 years Tom has worked hard with the support of his team to quit drinking and rebuild his independence. Tom is now mobile again, is actively searching to move back into the community and get back to work
Joanne lived an independent life until she suffered a stroke. This left Joanne nonverbal, Bedbound and severely depressed. After almost a year in hospital during Covid, Joanne came to Comfort Homes and care. At Joanne’s 6 month review we were able to demonstrate to social services of the huge progress she had made. Joanne is now communicating in short sentences and has been completing physiotherapy strength building exercises which enable her to get out of bed. Joanne is no longer on anti-Depressant medication and is laughing and enjoying the company of the team. Joanne has a long way to go but is improving.
Farzana came to Comfort Homes and Care after receiving care from children’s services and moving constantly between different foster carers. Farzana had very limited verbal communication and would not access the community, often isolating within her room, which was likely due to her autism. Slowly over time Farzana has built positive relationships and trust with the team. Farzana now lives a very full and active life and is happy to be developing new skills.
Mark came to Comfort Homes and Care on a short respite stay due to challenging behaviors displayed at home. Mark has a learning disability and suffers with psychosis. Mark settled in to respite so well that after a year professionals and family members requested a permanent placement. Mark has now had his mental health medication decreased, is very happy and does not display challenging behavior any more. Instead he communicates his anxieties with the team, helping him to ease them.
